Wings of The Heart

Falls. A season where trees topple their leaves. It’s a cold season.

There’s a man, who just lost his dream — his purpose. “What is the point?” is all he can think about. Just like a tree during falls, he drops everything. Everything he worked hard for. Everything meaningful to him. He became cold, just like falls.

Sounds familiar? We probably experienced the same thing. Maybe right now, maybe yesterday, maybe last week, maybe a decade ago. It’s the same season; the falls. The sentiments of loss. It could be everything; your dream, your job, your friend, your family. It’s hurt yet inevitable.

Comes a girl. Rough yet delicate girl. Shut-in yet full of wonder. She rarely interacts with others. She hardly — if ever — experience the world. She’s also just lost something. Her family, her dreams. A girl who doesn’t have much just lost everything. A rough, shut-in girl left with nothing.

Or, at least that is what she thought.

Kindness. Simple concept, but hard to find. In a never-sleeping world, in a world that demands expeditiously manner, kindness is a rare thing to find. Ironic. A crucial piece of concept to the world, but the world itself makes it hard to find. Those who find it are one lucky soul.

That girl is one of them. She is one lucky soul. She may be full of limitations, but she has one thing that everyone almost doesn’t have; kindness. The kindness she receives is what keeps her together.

From who she receives such kindness? Non-other than the man who just lost everything. The man who grew cold. He might be spreading kindness, but he never receives one.

He grew wings — majestic wings. One that could protect everything he cared for. However, he lost his wings. The wings were yanked from him. The man who was once a warm, majestic person has turned into a limbo. Inside or outside, he is hollow. The world has turned into a cruel place now that he doesn't have anything that can protect him.

Unfair isn’t it? The majestic wings he nurtured over the years are taken from him in a blink of an eye.

Or is it?

The girl might not have majestic wings, but she grew other things. A much more majestic than the wings the man has. Wings of the heart. Abstract yet impactful. Invincible yet significant. Wings that grew out of kindness she receives and from the kindness she’s about to give. Wings that make her powerful.

She did what usually she didn’t do. Write a simple book — a child book. Simple plot, easy to follow. However, it’s a story about all the kindness she receives. How the man’s majestic wings save her. The purpose is to remind the man of all the kindness he gives. To remind him that he may be lost his majestic wings, but he could also grow other wings — a different type of wings. All he needs is receiving kindness and the girl grants it to him.

Raise your head. You have larger wings in your heart. With those wings, you sheltered me. And used them to push me forward.

With wings of the heart, you can fly anywhere

The kindness goes around. Giving and receiving kindness give rise to the most important thing humans could have. Eternal wings. The moment humans realize the kindness they give and receive, their wings are awakened. Wings that could change an ordinary or even gloomy day into a wonderful day. Wings that could replace things that you lost. Wings that could change the world. All it requires is just a bit of kindness.

The man — now already receiving kindness — finally finds it, the final piece. The final piece is already placed where it should be. Giving him wings of the heart.

Falls might not be so cold after all. It is a cold season, but the sun still shines. It’s cold yet also a warm season.
